Michael Nash retired in 2016 after years in executive marketing and general management roles at American Express International and Visa. In addition to the United States, he led teams in Thailand, Hong Kong, Korea, and Australia. He initiated the transformation from Travelers Checks to travel cards, adapting to the changing needs of global travelers. Later, as part of Visa, he introduced prepaid cards to the financial system and led innovations in micropayments and transit fare collection, making it possible for general-purpose cards like Visa to be used as transit payment devices and eliminating the need for separate fare cards.

In retirement, he actively contributes to the community as president of his neighborhood association in San Mateo. Most recently he served as president of the unique San Mateo United “association of neighborhood associations,” where diverse neighborhood organizations collaborate to advance shared civic goals.
