President, Nils Nehrenheim
Yoga takes you into the present moment. The only place where life exists.
Nils Nehrenheim is a two term Councilmember who was elected in May in 2017 to the Redondo Beach City Council, sweeping change into Redondo Beach. He represented the coastal portion in Redondo Beach.
Nils Nehrenheim was born and raised in San Pedro, moving to Redondo Beach, almost 20 years ago. He’s heavily involved in the Statewide issue of local zoning and is the President of Our Neighborhood Voices Ballot Measure. He got his start in Redondo Beach politics while walking through the Riviera Village Summer Festival, meeting the South Bay Parklands Conservancy.
Nils Nehrenheim helped co-author Measure C, a local land-use initiative in the Harbor zone of Redondo Beach that passed in every District & every precinct in the City of Redondo. Measure C went to the California Coastal Commission, which passed it without any changes, a first in the history of the Coastal Commission.
While on the City Council, he was personally sued by developers trying to pass a $400 million waterfront project that he fought against. After finding him and his fellow defendants completely innocent of all the allegations the developers had thrown at him, Honorable Judge Mackay awarded Nils nearly $500,000 in court and legal fees. The developer appealed the decision all the way to the State Supreme Court and back down to the trial court. This resulted in the dismissal of his attorney’s fees award. Never once did any Judge, opinion, or expert witness ever state that he did anything wrong.
Today, he is working closely with residents across the State of California with Our Neighborhood Voices to protect local zoning from the gross infringement of State Legislators and their lobbyists. The impacts of these hundreds of State Bills have destroyed affordable housing and landmarks and cost local cities millions of dollars to implement and defend against.
