Your Voice.
Your Neighborhood.

Our Neighborhood Voices.

California does not need more towers casting shadows on working neighborhoods.

Sacramento’s rigid housing laws have force congestion and ruin communities.

OUR NEIGHBORHOOD VOICES will solve the BIG problem with a BIG solution.

In the booming state of California we are your neighbors.

We choose where we live, and we love where we live.

Neighbors should have a say in what gets built next door, not Sacramento. Local government, not Sacramento, should decide how communities are developed.

We need affordable housing. Instead, Sacramento is handing us traffic congestion and neighborhood impacts.

One-size-fits-all housing laws yield a bare minimum of affordably-priced units and prioritize developer profits.

It gets worse. These new State housing laws allow developers to bypass our safety, environment and quality of life protections.

Real estate speculators throw their weight behind state legislators to remove local laws and limit affordable housing options.

With decision-making stripped from your city, there goes your voice and your neighborhood.

The Solution is Simple

Why a ballot initiative?

Sacramento has failed. There are two main weapons in the assault on California’s neighborhoods: New laws and new regulations.

Sacramento lawmakers have passed over 400 laws in the last eight years alone, stripping away local control over development and allowing large developers to bypass nearly all local rules. That’s right — over 400 laws! These laws supersede local authority almost entirely. There is literally nothing cities can do.

The benefits and solutions are simply outlined below.

  • 400 laws in just the last eight years that take away local decision making in zoning are returned to cities. They can choose if they want to adopt these laws or not. What have those 400 laws done?

    Build luxury homes.

  • We put affordable housing first. Our State-wide initiative put the development of affordable housing a priority. How much luxury housing has been produced by the wealth Wall Street Investors?

    A drop in the bucket.

  • Unfortunately, every single grassroots effort to push back has failed. Sacramento bulldozes (literally) local opposition, and overturns the rare court win with new laws. Even electing new legislators hasn’t worked. In fact, the laws keep getting worse every year.

For every battle that is won, there are 100 new State laws destroying your neighborhood.

  • Lawsuits are draining. Some lawsuits are winners, others are losers. Ultimately, filing a lawsuit is often fruitless. When there is a win against a recently passed State law, the Legislators merely update the broken part. When a project is successful, the underlying laws remain in place.

Every lawsuit costs hundreds of thousands of dollars, and fails; the money is better spent on a statewide initiative.
